On the second day of their visit to Austria, King Willem-Alexander and his wife Máxima visit an integration project in the bread factory in Vienna-Favoriten on Tuesday. After visiting the “Community Cooking” kitchen, a meeting with refugees from the Ukraine is planned, followed by a tour of the Sonnwendviertel near Vienna Central Station.
A visit to the National Library is then scheduled, followed by a working discussion with Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). Finally, in the evening, a concert by the Dutch Chamber Choir in the Konzerthaus is on the programme. On Wednesday, the royal couple will travel to Graz by train.
Visit to the Belvedere
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima started their state visit to Austria on Monday. After a reception with military honors at the Hofburg, the royal couple laid a wreath on the Shoah name wall in Ostarrichi Park in the afternoon. The visit to the memorial was followed by an invitation from the Mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, to the City Hall, after which Willem-Alexander and Maxima, accompanied by the Second President of the National Council, Doris Bures, toured the Parliament building, which is currently being renovated.

Received in the evening Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen queen and the king at a state banquet in the Upper Belvedere. The royal couple visited the famous Gustav Klimt painting collection together with Belvedere Director General Stella Rollig. The location also has a current cultural connection to the Netherlands: from February to May 2023, the Belvedere Museum is showing the show “Klimt. Inspired by Rodin, Van Gogh, Matisse…” in cooperation with the Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, in the the connections between the paintings of Gustav Klimt and the works of other artists of his time, such as Vincent Van Gogh, are explored.

The royal visitors ended the evening with a meal together with Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler, European Minister Karoline Edtstadler, Health Minister Johannes Rauch and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg in the elegant ambience of the historical palace.
