Around 400 vehicle owners took advantage of the opportunity to park their car free of charge in the Weberzeile underground car park on Tuesday night. After the storm warning on Monday, the center management announced via social media that there was the possibility of protected parking. Meteorologists’ forecasts had not ruled out hail and extreme storms either.
“Fortunately, it wasn’t that bad for us, but I would still like to say thank you for this opportunity that the people of Rieder were given. We definitely want to continue this initiative,” said Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner on Tuesday morning.
When asked by OÖN, center manager Christoph Vormair also confirmed that this option would be offered in the future. But he counts on the personal responsibility of the people who drive into the garage. “In order for us to be able to guarantee this service smoothly, it is necessary for everyone to adhere to the modalities – this makes the technical processing easier for us,” says Christoph Vormair. The barriers for vehicle owners seeking protection were therefore open between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. His thanks also go to the technical team at Weberzeile, who had the idea for this campaign and are also responsible for the execution. “I’m glad that this input came from our technical staff!”
