Who should I contact if I have health problems? Should I go to the family doctor or contact a specialist straight away? Perhaps a hospital outpatient clinic is the right solution after all? Or maybe you don’t need to see a doctor at all?
All questions that many Upper Austrians keep asking themselves when they are ill. The answers are now available on the website www.wobinichricht.at.
Around 100 experts from all relevant areas have worked together over the past four years. The aim was to compile easily understandable information for patients. The result: a guide that serves as a guide. The topics range from common complaints such as skin rashes in infants to insect bites and waiting in the outpatient clinic.
Better orientation
The goals of the joint project “Getting healthy: Where am I right?” – “Successful patient contact” was clear from the start: higher health competence, better orientation in the health care system and successful communication with patients. “The project, which is intended to strengthen the health skills of Upper Austrians, was a success. It was not decreed from above, but developed together with many partners. Good information and successful communication are important in order to be able to make the right decisions for one’s own health,” says Christine Haberlander, Deputy Governor and Health Minister.
Accident, tick bite, cold
“‘Successful patient contact’ is an important flagship project of the health partners in Upper Austria. Because even the best health system can only help people optimally if everyone can find their way around in it,” says Albert Maringer, Chairman of the Regional Offices Committee of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK). “This project also gives our insured persons the necessary orientation. So that each individual can always find the right treatment in the right place and of the right quality. Whether it’s a tick bite, a mild cold, a chronic illness or a serious accident: in every situation we should all know where the necessary help is ready.”
