Do you know your current blood sugar and cholesterol levels? Can you remember the last time your pulse and blood pressure were checked? On Thursday, July 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you have the opportunity to be checked from head to toe in the air-conditioned rooms of the Promenaden Galerien in Linz. In addition, health talks are held every half hour on various topics – from sleep disorders to pain, the great fear of dementia to varicose veins.
Blood sugar, cholesterol, pulse and blood pressure are measured. Uniqa experts use “MediMouse” to analyze the condition of the spine. From 1 p.m. there is also the opportunity to have your birthmarks checked by the dermatologist Michael Wipplinger (Ordensklinikum), who was hired by the Cancer Aid for the health day, in good time before summer.
Sound advice: Doctors from the Kepler University Hospital, the health holding company, the University of Applied Sciences for Health Professions Upper Austria and Uniqa VitalCoaches are available as experts. In addition, pharmacists are advised on the subject of sleep disorders, which can often be treated well with herbal remedies.
medical professionals from across the country come from 10 a.m. to the OÖNachrichten health talks with the topics “What to do with sleep disorders?” – these have increased extremely during the pandemic -, “Varicose veins: That really helps!”, “The great fear: Just forgetful or already demented?”, “Shoulder pain, let it go!” and “Professor Lamprecht, how will this summer and the autumn that follows?”
After the talks There is always the opportunity to ask individual questions about the various health topics. You can also talk to the experts personally at the OÖ Gesundheitsholding stand after the presentations.
Understand medicine: The Upper Austrian news health tour started exactly seven years ago, which had since become a fixed point for many Upper Austrians until the beginning of the corona pandemic. The events at the health talks in the hospitals in Freistadt, Rohrbach, Schärding, Vöcklabruck, Gmunden, Bad Ischl, Steyr and Kirchdorf were just as well attended as in the hospitals in Linz, where the health tour stopped at the Kepler University Hospital Linz and the Ordensklinikum.
The topics of the events are varied and range from the “perennial” back pain to allergies and foot problems such as hallux valgus – the secret of the success of the healthy event series of the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten and the OÖ Gesundheitsholding.
Medical topics are explained in an understandable way in the health talk. Visitors also have the opportunity to ask questions themselves and to get in touch with competent doctors personally. After two and a half years of a break due to corona, there will be a new edition in 2022 and hopefully a restart of the health tour.
