This time the eight-year-old was less fortunate: she sustained such serious injuries in the fall that she had to be taken to the Kepler University Hospital. On Wednesday at around 1:30 p.m., the girl climbed under the blind, which was about 30 centimeters wide, onto the windowsill on the first floor of a block of flats in Mittertreffling (Urfahr district). Like four days before, it lost its balance and fell from a height of about four meters.
Hedge braked fall
A hedge slowed her fall, and the girl landed in a meadow. Shortly thereafter, the 34-year-old mother rushed to the scene of the accident and carried her daughter back into the house. The eight-year-old suffered injuries of an unspecified degree, was treated by the emergency doctor and taken to the Kepler University Hospital, the police said. There was no further information about her condition on Wednesday afternoon.
Motorists became rescuers
A similar scenario had only played out on Sunday afternoon in exactly the same place – but with a different outcome: A driver had noticed the child’s plight and stopped immediately. Martin M. was able to catch the girl just in time and bring her back to her parents’ home unharmed. He reported the incident to the police “so that another child doesn’t fall out of the window,” as he said in the OÖN interview.
