A 23-year-old driver had aroused the displeasure of a passer-by at an intersection in the city of Vöcklabruck because loud music was playing from his car. The 51-year-old on the sidewalk vented his anger with a derogatory gesture towards the driver of the car.
The young man behind the wheel then lost his form: he took an outdoor knife, got out of the car and walked towards the 51-year-old with the knife in his hand. “Got a problem? Already having a bad day!” he said aggressively several times while handling the knife.
“Inside a switch flipped”
The 23-year-old fled before the police arrived. The officers were able to locate and arrest him after about 40 minutes. He confessed during his interrogation. The gesture of the passer-by “threw a switch inside him,” he said.
He played the loud music because he had been in a bad mood all day and it calmed him down. He deviated from the plan to stab because he saw so many people. Then he made an exit. The accused was admitted to the Wels prison by order of the Wels public prosecutor’s office, the police said on Wednesday.
