President of Brazil’s state bank resigns over sexual harassment claims

“I join my family to defend myself from the perversities launched against me with the calm heart of those who do not fear”, expressed in a letter of resignation.

As a result of the accusations, the Federal Public Ministry opened an investigation against Guimaraes, who was in charge of Caixa Economica since Bolsonaro began his term in 2019.

Guimaraes was always very close to Bolsonaro, whom he accompanied on trips and participated in the broadcasts on social networks that take place every Thursday.

His resignation occurred the same day that the São Paulo Court of Justice sentenced President Bolsonaro for moral damages to the detriment of the journalist, Patricia Campos Mello, whom he offended with expressions of sexual connotation.

The new owner of the Caixa Economica must be Daniella Marques Consentinocurrent Secretary of Productivity and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy, and trusted person of the head of that portfolio, Paulo Guedes.
