Passengers on the Summerauerbahn had to be brought to safety by the fire brigade after an overhead line was damaged and the train stopped between Kefermarkt and Neumarkt (Freistadt district). Nobody was injured during the night of the storm, the state warning center informed.
This time the Freistadt region was particularly affected by the storm. However, it was less the amount of water than the strong wind that challenged the firefighters. Especially in the city, countless covered roofs had to be temporarily closed. Nine fire brigades came to the comrades in Freistadt to help, a total of around 150 forces were deployed there. In the districts of Linz-Stadt and Land as well as Perg, on the other hand, it was rather flooded cellars that had to be pumped out, according to an initial assessment by the state fire brigade command.
