The expected maximum value of new infections nationwide is in a range of 35,000 to 70,000 cases per day. In March, daily new infections reached 63,000. It is unclear when the wave peaked. If the contacts are reduced independently, the peak is likely to occur in early autumn. If this is the case to a lesser extent, peak values could be reached earlier. On the one hand, the holiday season and, on the other hand, greater risk awareness above a certain number of infections (experts estimate around 20,000 infections per day) could have a braking effect. The advisory panel also recommends facilitating the availability of anti-Covid drugs.
