People celebrate, laugh and dance on Herrenstrasse

“It’s great to be back here,” was what many visitors at the Herrenstrasse Festival said on Friday. From twelve o’clock there will be dancing, laughing and enjoying the time together again. “The mood is great, it’s nice that we’re all meeting again,” said Lisa Sigl from the Black Bear in the early afternoon.

Michaela Reisenberger and Anita Huber-Katzengruber, who are responsible for the organization with Renée Chvatal, are also very happy. Ten years after its invention, nothing has changed in the basic idea of the format: it should be a festival by and for the people in Herrenstrasse. For the anniversary, it got a little “nostalgic”, as Reisenberger calls it, thanks to the decoration with photos from previous celebrations. “When you look at it, memories are immediately awakened,” says Huber-Katzengruber.

There were and are many opportunities for new snapshots with the colorful program today: This ranges from music acts to the health point in the Promenade Galleries to the “summer retreat” in the Bischofshof. Despite the promising forecast for rain, the number of visitors was high in the afternoon. The rain finally came, but the enthusiasm remained. The party continues until 10 p.m.

“I’m a permanent guest at the Herrenstrasse Festival. It’s nice that there are events like this again, you see a lot of familiar faces. It’s also great that there are finally no cars driving here.” – Fabian Horn, dance school owner from Linz

“It’s great that Herrenstrasse is being revitalized and businesses are being supported. Herrenstrasse is more intimate than Landstrasse, it has developed well and there is a good mix of shops.” – Christina Pippig, employee from Linz

“I also like to be on Herrenstrasse in other ways. It’s much more comfortable than Landstrasse, there are no trams here. There are also many small shops and you can sit outside at the bars. I really enjoy that.” – Theresia Jäger, pensioner from Linz

“We live around the corner from here, so we come here regularly. I like the music and the ambience is wonderful. We’ve already strolled through the entire street. Finally something is going on again.” – Martin Lederhuber, doctor from Linz
