One can feel sorry for Tobias Anselm: The 22-year-old center forward tore a cruciate ligament for the second time in ten months during Thursday training and is therefore missing LASK for several months. The homecomer had been loaned to WSG Tirol from 2020 to 2022, on September 19, 2021 he had injured his knee badly in the seventh minute of the 0: 5 at Sturm Graz. Since then he has not played in a competitive game.
“This diagnosis hits us hard and is extremely bitter,” said LASK sports coordinator Dino Buric, who is trying to comfort Anselm. The young man, who had been trained at the Red Bull Academy in Salzburg, seemed to be well on the way back. The recent injury throws the attacker, who has gone through all the junior national teams and recorded seven goals and six assists in 34 Bundesliga matches, far behind. Anselm’s contract with LASK runs until the summer of 2023.
“It is important now that Tobias can concentrate fully on his recovery. We are sure that he will come back stronger because he is a great boy,” emphasized Dino Buric.
Today (5 p.m.) LASK meets the three-time Romanian champion Rapid Bucharest in Hausmening, who has pitched his tents in the Hotel Aumühle (Grein/Bad Kreuzen) in preparation.
Ried equalized in the 89th minute
A thunderstorm with torrential rain had delayed the start of the friendly game between SV Guntamatic Ried and the German third division team 1860 Munich in Windischgarsten by an hour. In the end there was no winner, left-back Philipp Birglehner saved the Innviertel team with his goal in the 89th minute to make it 1-1. Second division club SK Verwarts Steyr, who slid into an 8-0 debacle against second-team Sparta Prague in Haidershofen, are off the mark.
Rapid have signed striker Ferdy Druijf, who scored six goals in 13 games in the spring, from AZ Alkmaar. The Dutchman signed until 2025.
