Immediately after his election, he formulated a clear claim to power: “We will be part of the next government”.
Without the Neos, “nothing would work anymore” in Tyrol, the front man was optimistic. Before his election, in his speech he launched violent attacks against the ÖVP at state and federal level: “With its policies over the past few decades, the ÖVP has broken the promise of prosperity that was broken off after the war.” The People’s Party has also resigned in terms of economic policy: “They don’t have the faintest idea about a market economy.”
The 41-year-old Oberhofer will lead the party into a state election for the second time, he is the only candidate. Kufstein’s mayoral candidate this year, Birgit Obermüller, was elected second.
The Tyrolean Neos achieved 5.21 percent of the votes in the last state election in 2018 and have been represented in the state parliament for the first time since then, with two mandates.
