Roof truss caught fire in Waldhausen

A 30-year-old resident noticed fire noises and smoke development in the attic around 7 p.m. She then immediately notified the other residents in the house, who immediately fled to safety. She also called her 42-year-old partner and homeowner, who alerted the fire department.

The extinguishing work was difficult because the building is very remote: local farmers brought the extinguishing water to the site with their liquid manure barrels. The fire brigade also relied again on thermal images from a drone. The fire was contained so quickly.

Nobody got hurt. The adjoining outbuildings were not damaged either.

The roof truss now has to be removed with a crane. It is not yet known what caused the fire. An expert investigates the scene of the fire.
