About every 90 seconds, a canned food is used and Austria is now heading towards a blood emergency. The Austrian Red Cross offers both online and telephone offers for registration, it said in a broadcast.
“The situation is dramatic, the blood supplies in our hospitals are running out. I urge you: take your time, donate blood and save the life of a fellow human being. Let’s look out for each other and let’s help each other. That’s what our country does strong,” said Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP). “Donating blood saves lives. Now we are all called upon: We would like to call on everyone who can to donate blood to the Austrian Red Cross. This shows solidarity and means a lot, especially for the sick and injured,” added Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler (Green).
