8,616 new infections were registered within one day. A week ago, that number was 7,093. The seven-day incidence increased from 770.5 to 787.5. There have been five deaths. The 8,616 new infections registered within one day are below the average of 10,102 over the past seven days. However, there is also less testing on the weekend.
50 people in intensive care
There are currently 874 people with an infection in the hospital. This number has not changed since yesterday. 50 people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number has fallen by eight since yesterday and has increased by four patients in a week. 38 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,798 lives in Austria since it broke out. However, AGES already reported 20,066 fatalities on Saturday.
1,1696 new infections in Upper Austria
Most new infections were again in Vienna with 2,677 cases, followed by Lower Austria with 2,024, Upper Austria with 1,169, Styria with 987, Carinthia with 404, Tyrol with 383, Salzburg with 379, Burgenland with 298 and Vorarlberg with 295 cases. Vienna is therefore still the federal state with the highest seven-day incidence with 1,284.8, followed by Lower Austria, Burgenland and Vorarlberg (867.2, 746.9 and 709.2). Then come Upper Austria (606.2), Salzburg (599.2), Styria (566.2), Tyrol (510.6) and Carinthia (459.3).
1,390 vaccinations were carried out on Saturday. Of these, only 32 were first stitches, 95 were second stitches and 1,263 were third stitches. According to e-vaccination card data, 6.8 million people have already received a vaccination. 5.5 million people and thus 61.6 percent of Austrians have valid vaccination protection.
The protection rate (valid vaccination certificate) is highest in Burgenland at 69.5 percent. In Lower Austria 65.2 percent of the population have a valid vaccination protection, in Styria 62.9 percent. After Vienna (60.2), Tyrol (59.5), Carinthia (58.5), Vorarlberg (58.2) and Salzburg (57.3), Upper Austria brings up the rear with 57 percent.
There have already been 4.5 million confirmed cases in Austria since the beginning of the pandemic. 4.3 million people have recovered since the outbreak of the epidemic.
