70 people evacuated when there was a fire in Braunau

Around four in the morning, the Braunau and Ranshofen fire brigades were alerted to an apartment fire in the Neustadt district. When they arrived at the scene, an apartment on the seventh floor was fully engulfed in flames. Several respiratory protection teams started the extinguishing and evacuation measures. At the same time, the neighboring fire brigades were alerted.

The firefighting had an immediate effect. A mobile smoke blocker was attached to the door to the fire apartment and two high-performance fans were put into operation in the stairwell area to keep the escape route smoke-free for the evacuation.

70 people were evacuated by the fire brigade and police and handed over to the Red Cross for further care. They were very lucky because no one was injured. A total of five fire departments with 18 vehicles and 95 members were deployed.

This was not the only large-scale operation for the fire brigades in Upper Austria over the weekend: twelve fire brigades were on duty in the Mühlviertel on Saturday evening after a fire broke out on a farm:
