Stand-up paddler rescued from Feldkirchner See

The crew of the water lifeboat noticed the man clinging to a stand-up paddle board floating upside down in the water during a control trip early on Sunday afternoon. The 52-year-old from Linz was no longer able to turn the board around and climb on it on his own. The emergency services brought the exhausted man, who, according to the water rescue service, only had poor swimming skills, to the shore. There he was treated by paramedics from the Arbeiter Samaritan Bund.

In a broadcast, the water rescue service warned against using stand-up paddles without sufficient swimming skills. In addition, there would be danger if paddlers did not pay attention to impending storms at all or only too late. “Putting on the safety line at the ankle and wearing a life jacket should be a matter of course for inexperienced swimmers,” said the emergency services.
