The second best red-white-red triathlete was 39-year-old Christian Birngruber from Oberneukirch in sixth (+33:36.18), Hubert Hammerl came in tenth (+51:38.09). In the women’s category, Magdalena Lenz from Poland had the upper hand.
Paul Ruttmann from Gmunden had decided not to start after the hardships of the Frankfurt competition. The Swedish favorite Rasmus Svenningsson did not compete either. This did not detract from the mood. The Ironman had been carried out without restrictions for the first time since the outbreak of the corona pandemic.
