An intensive weekend lies behind the fire brigade’s emergency services. The voluntary fire brigade was alerted to a room fire in Baumgartenberg (Perg district) on Saturday afternoon. A respiratory protection team advanced to the fire object to fight the fire inside. The affected room was already in full fire at this time, the flames had also spread to the roof structure, so ten more fire brigades were called. While three breathing protection teams fought the fire inside, the roof skin was cooled from above using a telescopic mast platform. At the same time, a drone was in use. The thermal image of the drone helped the operations center to find the glowing nests.
As the operation progressed, the roof skin was opened in order to access the last embers and extinguish them. Nobody got hurt. The spread of fire could be prevented. The exact cause of the fire is currently being determined by a fire expert.
Attic completely destroyed
Just hours later, around 7 p.m., a 30-year-old woman in Waldhausen noticed fire noises in the attic of the residential building on her agricultural property. The woman took a closer look and noticed smoke developing in the south-eastern area of the roof structure. She then informed her 42-year-old partner and homeowner, who alerted the fire brigade. Twelve fire brigades with around 140 men were deployed to fight the fire.
No one was injured as a result of the fire, but property damage amounted to several hundred thousand euros. After the entire roof truss was destroyed, the house is uninhabitable, the ceiling on the upper floor is in danger of collapsing. According to investigations, the cause of the fire may have been a defect in the solar system on the roof.

70 people evacuated
Another fire occupied the helpers in the night of yesterday in Braunau. Around four in the morning, the Braunau and Ranshofen fire brigades were alerted to an apartment fire in the Neustadt district. When they arrived at the scene, an apartment on the seventh floor was fully engulfed in flames. Several respiratory protection teams started the extinguishing and evacuation measures. At the same time, other fire brigades were alerted. The firefighting had an immediate effect. A mobile smoke blocker was installed on the door to the burning apartment, and two high-performance fans were put into operation in the stairwell area to keep the escape route for the evacuation smoke-free.
70 people were rescued by the fire brigade and police and handed over to the Red Cross for further care. They were very lucky because no one was injured. A total of five fire departments with 18 vehicles and 95 members were deployed.
