Turquoise-green dispute over top positions

Economics Minister Martin Kocher wants to stick to the selection process set up by predecessor Margarete Schramböck (both VP). In it, the Vice President of the Federal Administrative Court, Michael Sachs, was ranked first.

This is despite the fact that Sachs, once in the cabinet of former chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel, unlike the interim head of the BWB, Natalie Harsdorf-Borsch, who is considered party-politically independent, has no expertise in competition law, say the Greens. They want a new procedure in which this aspect is given more weight. From Kocher’s office it is said that Sachs achieved the highest number of points in the selection process. One cannot ignore this result. In a report by Radio-Ö1, Sachs confirmed that he was “very well acquainted” with the chairman of the selection committee, Jörg Zehetner. A partner of Zehetner is also the president of the lobbying organization ÖG Bau, against which the BWB has around two dozen proceedings. Years ago, Sachs is said to have been a member of the board of the ÖG Bau. In the BWB, the chief question should only arise after the summer.
