The resignations of two figures of the Conservative Party They appear to be coordinated, the British media highlighted, and occurred while Boris Johnson was trying to apologize for the latest sexual harassment scandal involving another of his ministers, Chris Pincher.
For the two ministers, the apologies presented hours earlier by Boris Johnson for having appointed Pincher to an important position, a conservative leader who resigned last week after acknowledging that he groped two men while intoxicated, one of them a deputy, were insufficient.
After both departures, Johnson appointed as the new finance minister Nadhim Zahawi, who was heading the Education portfolio, after the resignation of Rishi Sunak.
Downing Street said that the Queen Isabel II had approved the appointment of Zahawi, who came to the UK from Iraq with his family as a child and spoke no English before developing a lucrative business career.
Zahawi, a 55-year-old Iraqi Kurd, co-founded the YouGov polling company and was active in local Conservative politics in London, before becoming an MP in 2010.
The new Finance Minister became known above all for the management of vaccination in the country during the covid-19 pandemic.
Boris Johnson, increasingly isolated
The UK government initially claimed that the prime minister was not aware of similar behavior by Pincher, who was in charge of ensuring party compliance in Parliament, on previous occasions.
But that argument fell apart on Tuesday, when a former Johnson collaborator revealed that the head of government was informed in 2019, when he was foreign minister, that Pincher had already been involved in such an incident.

The public rightly expect government to be conducted properly, competently and seriously.
I recognize this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these standards are worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning.

“The population has a legitimate expectation of a properly conducted, competent and serious government,” Sunak wrote in his resignation letter. “I admit that this may be my last ministerial post, but I think these are values worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning,” added the former finance minister.
“It is clear to me that this situation will not change under your leadership and consequently he has lost my confidence,” said the resigning Minister of Health.
The Guardian analyzed the departure of the ministers in a different tone. “The two partial electoral defeats almost two weeks ago prompted calls for cabinet ministers to give a coup against Boris Johnson, and it finally seems to be happening,” he wrote.
Liz Trusscurrent foreign minister, even sounds like the candidate of a Conservative Party jaded with its leader to replace him.
Sequedadilla of sexual scandals in the oficialismo
This case joins other similar cases in the Conservative Party in recent months.
In mid-May a deputy suspected of violation He was arrested and later released on bail.
In April, another legislator resigned for seeing pornography on the camera on your mobile phone. And a former deputy was sentenced in May to 18 months in prison for sexually assault a girl 15 years old.
Boris Johnson’s government has also been rocked by the scandal of Downing Street parties held despite Covid-19 restrictions during the pandemic.
