Heinz Rieder (66) from the Rotary Club Bischofshofen has been the new governor of the Rotary District 1920 for Upper Austria, Salzburg, Tyrol and Vorarlberg since July 1st. In this function, he replaced Klaus Hötzenecker from Linz – the former director of the Europagymnasium Auhof – and is thus supporting 69 Rotary Clubs in the district for a year.
After the Corona years, Rieder wants to create new enthusiasm for personal encounters, joint activities and projects. This includes promoting youth, particularly the relaunch of the Rotary Youth Exchange, the largest private youth exchange program in the world. In the Youth Exchange, almost 10,000 exchange students between the ages of 15 and 19 in over 100 countries will be mentored by Rotary every year in order to open up new opportunities and new horizons for them
Heinz Rieder is a former sales manager from industrial and mechanical engineering. At the district conference in Linz, which took place again this year as a face-to-face meeting after a long break, Heinz Rieder took over and presented his program: Last year 2021/22, projects worth over 1.5 million euros were implemented in the district in order to to support people. In the new year, this amount should exceed the two million mark.
