In the municipal council, after the majority in the supervisory board of the location agency, Daniela Limberger also received the expected approval in the municipal council. Only the Liberals did not agree to their appointment. The outgoing head of Steyrer City Marketing will take up her new post on September 1, succeeding Susanne Steckerl. Mayor Sabine Naderer-Jelinek (SP) expects Limberger to provide “strong impetus and new ideas” for the city.
In Leondinger Stadtpark, the signs are already pointing to change, regardless of the personnel decision. A new motor skills and fitness track is planned there, the construction of which was also approved by the municipal council. The concept goes back to the sports scientist Roland Werthner, who developed the motor skills park in Ansfelden, among other things. In Leonding, seven stations, from a balancing circle to climbing routes and a standing rope swing, offer an experience for young and old. Around 150,000 euros are estimated for the new leisure facilities, which should be ready in autumn. The devices are largely made of wood.
The municipal council also gave the green light for a second leisure offer with the outdoor escape decision. Behind this is a kind of puzzle rally, in which the players go on a treasure hunt through Leonding via app. The destination and starting point is the Leonding town square, which Naderer-Jelinek hopes will have a positive effect on revitalizing the city centre. The city is investing around 10,000 euros in the new offer, which not only finances the development of the Leondinger game, but also acquires access to the game. These, in turn, are to be raffled off for young people to apply for. The format is intended to meet their desire for “a little more action” in the city. There should be a first glimpse of the game at the end of September at the open house of the youth facilities in Leonding.
In addition, the municipal council has agreed on a special pot to support Leonding residents who are struggling with current inflation. The award criteria and the amount of the budget are now being worked out by the social committee, and a corresponding decision is to be made in September by the municipal council. (jp)
