Recarey activated this resolution until “all the contracts for the purchase of these vaccines are published in full”, it is communicated “the composition of the substances to be inoculated” and “a text is drawn up – to be supplied to those responsible for minors – that fully and clearly informs” several points.
The magistrate had summoned the government and the pharmaceutical Pfizerwhose vaccine is the one that is applied voluntarily to minors in Uruguay, to demand detailed information on the immunizations administered during the pandemic and the contracts signed.
The Government had warned yesterday that the demand was not well formulated, because it did not include a specific claim for the suspension of the pediatric inoculation and had questioned the impartiality of the judge, who gave previous opinions “both relativizing the effects and severity of the pandemic, and questioning the role of science.”
However, Recarey gave the right to the plaintiff and not to the Government, assuring that “although it is true that in the literal formulation of the request contained in the application the claim does not appear, it is clearly reflected” in the spirit of the request.

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) is going to “accept” and “appeal” the ruling, assured the undersecretary of the ministry, José Luis Satdjian.
“The Ministry of Public Health reiterates that each of the decisions made regarding the vaccination of the National Coronavirus Plan were based on the available scientific evidence, supported by the suitability, experience and trajectory of the members of the National Vaccine Advisory Commission, the ad-hoc group, the Honorary Scientific Advisory Group (GACH) and the scientific community, who determined based on multiple studies that the vaccines administered are safe and effective“, the portfolio said in a statement.
On the outskirts of the court, a group of anti-vaccines celebrated the resolution today between shouts, hugs and even the singing of the national anthem.
“There is ample scientific evidence that demonstrates, precisely, that the vaccination plan saves lives, which is why the requirement of actuality and imminence in the non-existent violation of rights denounced is not met either,” the health authorities stressed.
In Uruguay, children over the age of five are authorized to be vaccinated.
