The attitude towards life of the Mühlviertler: “Net zweng und net zvü” is the goal

This book is not a typical travel guide, not a classic cookbook and not an autobiography – even if it tells about the Upper Mühlviertel and its residents, contains recipes from the author’s family fund and tips for decelerating and reveals personal stories: “I grew up as a child in the 1970s grew up on a farm in the Upper Mühlviertel. The little stories I tell may be unspectacular, but in my world they were both everyday life and adventure at the same time,” the author recalls, describing the lifestyle of her childhood.

This lifestyle is very modern again today and could be called the “Nordic Lifestyle”, for which there is the word “lagom” in Sweden. Lagom means something like “the right balance in life” – the people of the Mühlviertel would say “net zweng and net zvü”.

From the ground beneath your feet

“I remember the ground beneath my feet when I was a child”, for example, is the name of a story that – garnished with beautiful photos – can be enjoyed in the first chapter “On this ground the Upper Mühlviertler:innen stand”. From living, eating, working to “That’s how the Upper Mühlviertler:innen tick” the arc spans and not only contains touching memories, but also gives insights into current Mühlviertler peculiarities.

The leader project “Nordkind und Bemwind” is not “only” about the book, but also about the question of how you want to live in the future and what you can do to find the right balance – “net zweng und net zvü” – Also available for children and grandchildren. This question was actively pursued in the form of table talks in the event organized by “Frau in der Wirtschaft” together with “Textpoterie” and the “Leader-Region Donau-Böhmerwald”: At each table the question was discussed from a different perspective (nutrition, climate , family, quality of life, …) and brought ideas, emotions, thoughts, drawings and much more to the tablecloth.

The results flow into the work of women in business as well as the Leader region – and how could it be otherwise: The versatile author will creatively process these findings further by creating “bags for future leaders” and burning them on ceramic plates Ideas are served to decision makers.
