Colorful meadow flowers on the tables, a festively decorated Vierkanter hall and the best cider and fruit juices from Upper Austria: Wednesday evening at the Stadlerhof in Wilhering was all about getting together, cosiness and exuberance – characteristics that also the Mostdipf as a traditional commentator of the day’s events in the Upper Austrian news. After the popular “Mostln” could not take place for two years due to the corona pandemic, the reunion with around 200 guests from politics, business, art and culture was all the more heartfelt.

Already at the entrance the finely dressed ladies and gentlemen – the unspoken dress code was traditional costume – were welcomed by a delighted cider dipf. For Suzanne Dickstein, editor-in-chief of OÖNachrichten, the “Mostln” is one of the favorite events of the year: “The Mostdipf Gala represents what makes our newspaper special. The guests are a cross-section from all of Upper Austria, and that also shows the diversity of our state.” When asked what triggers the daily Mostdipf comment, the governor had to Thomas Stelzer smile: “Definitely a lot of emotions.”

Delicacies and the best musts

On a picture-book summer evening, the numerous guests enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the beautiful landscape of the Katzing district in Wilhering. “We are really happy to welcome so many guests here. It is a great honor for us,” said the hostess Margit Stadler Schauerthe owner of the Stadlerhof.

Together with the Waldschänke team, the award-winning chefs performed their magic Elisabeth and Clemens Grabmer the menu for the Mostln: After the regional appetizers at the beginning of the event, a braised shoulder of cult beef was served with mashed potatoes, and at the sweet end of the evening the guests were treated to a curd and lime tart. There was also a sparkling must and fruity juices.

“Thanks to the meadow orchards and different varieties, we have a great variety of musts in Upper Austria. That’s why it’s so important to preserve this part of the cultural landscape,” said the President of the Chamber of Agriculture Franz Waldenberg.

The regional values ​​maintained by the Most tradition in Upper Austria are for Agrarian Councillor Michaela Langer-Weninger a good sign. Because especially among young people you can see a strong commitment to regionality.

The musical accompaniment was provided that evening Spring String Quartet, which has been at home on the stages of Austria, Europe and the USA since 1997, redefining the artistic possibilities of expression in violin music. After his award ceremony was also joined Paul Zauner to the quartet and played some pieces of music on his trombone. The enthusiastic guests did not spare their applause.

The stage at the Stadlerhof was really crowded when the best local direct marketers were honored at the Mostdipf Gala. At the Ab-Hof-Messe in Wieselburg, the best products from Austrian direct marketers are tasted and awarded every year. This year, a record number of 1054 products from 167 companies were submitted from Upper Austria. Of the 3277 products submitted, 81 were awarded golden pears and golden stampers – 19 products come from Upper Austria.
