This is above the average of 10,265 cases over the past seven days. The total number of infections in one week (seven-day incidence) rose slightly to 800 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Ten more Covid deaths have been registered since the previous day. The number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic has exceeded the 4.5 million mark.
Almost 1000 patients in hospitals
There were 987 infected people in the hospital on Friday morning, 37 fewer than a day, but 117 more than a week ago. 57 victims are cared for in intensive care units. This number has fallen by six since Thursday, but has risen by eight patients within a week, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior and Health.
In Burgenland, 393 new infections were added within one day, in Carinthia 536 and in Lower Austria 2,427. Upper Austria reported 1,706 positive tests, Salzburg 775 and Styria 1,192. There were 652 other SARS-CoV-2 cases in Tyrol, 442 in Vorarlberg and 2,972 in Vienna. Of the 91,863 PCR tests across Austria, 12.1 percent were positive, slightly more than the average of 10.1 percent last week.
Almost every second person is proven to be infected

According to Statistics Austria, almost every second of the 9,027,999 inhabitants of Austria was demonstrably infected, including the number of unreported cases, probably significantly more. 4,373,320 people have had one or more confirmed infections. Rate of increase at three percent daily
The estimated daily rate of increase in new infections in Austria was 3.1 percent, AGES announced on its website on Friday. The number of infections continued to rise, but weakened compared to the previous week, when the value was 5.1 percent. The effective number of reproductions is 1.07 and also lower than last Friday, when an infected person had an average of 1.18 further infections.
3,455 vaccinations were carried out on Thursday. Among them were 166 first and 307 second bites as well as 2,982 third vaccinations. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,832,931 people received at least one vaccination. 5,492,303 people and thus 61.2 percent of the inhabitants of Austria have a valid vaccination protection.
