The knights conquer the castle and old town today

Today – from 10 a.m. – the inner city of Linz will be transformed into a medieval paradise again: around the Castle Museum and in the old town, more than 100 showmen and artists will gather for the 16th edition of the Knights’ Festival. “We are very pleased that it is taking place again this year on a larger scale,” says Bernhard Baier, chairman of the Upper Austrian Family Association – in 2020 it was completely canceled, last year it took place in a smaller version.

What can visitors look forward to today? Children can immerse themselves in the world of knights with a wide variety of program items – from archery to pony rides, face painting, tours of the Landhausturm to the Drachenhöhle. Creativity is also rewarded: Anyone who comes to the festival in disguise can pick up a surprise at the information stands of the Family Association. At the medieval market in the old town, artisans offer their products for sale and hungry people can strengthen themselves at numerous food stands.

The knights also cause traffic restrictions in the city between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.: the main square and the old town are closed to traffic.

The knight festival begins at 10 a.m. with an opening ceremony on the castle grounds and ends at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
