There is less testing at the weekend than during the week. On average, 10,296 new cases were added every day in the past week. The number of infected people in the hospitals has also risen again.
There are now 1,011 people in the hospital, nine more than on Saturday. 49 people are being looked after in intensive care units, six fewer than on Saturday. In a weekly comparison, there was one less seriously ill person.
The seven-day incidence rose to 802.6 cases per 100,000 people on Sunday. Laboratory-confirmed 117,658 people were actively infected, 149 fewer than on Saturday. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 4,529,644 confirmed cases in Austria.
Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland
The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is still Vienna with 1,099.7, followed by Lower Austria (889.9), Burgenland (838.3) and Vorarlberg (743.3). It is followed by Salzburg (714.9), Upper Austria (696), Styria (646.1), Tyrol (585.8) and Carinthia (559.2).
There have been five deaths since Saturday. 79 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. According to the ministries, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,877 lives in Austria since it broke out. AGES already reported 20,118 fatalities on Saturday.
56,000 tests
In the past 24 hours, 56,407 rapid PCR and antigen tests have been reported across Austria. Of these, 54,067 were meaningful PCR tests, the positive rate was 17.1 percent. This is significantly higher than the weekly average. On average, more than 105,400 PCR analyzes were carried out in the past seven days, with an average of 9.8 percent being positive.
1,474 vaccinations were carried out on Saturday, 30 of which were first bites. According to the data from the e-vaccination card, a total of 6,833,128 people have already received at least one vaccination. Precisely 5,019,686 people have basic immunization, so 55.9 percent of the population have received the required three doses of vaccine.
