Saint Peter. The state fire brigade competition in St. Peter am Wimberg was definitely a successful revival at all levels. After the Corona break, the Mühlviertler burned fireworks of camaraderie. The working group of the St. Peter am Wimberg, Kasten and Niederwaldkirchen fire brigades and the numerous volunteers from the entire Neufelden fire brigade section had set up a competition with perfect conditions. Three years of preparation have welded the team around Commander Herbert Strasser together.

It was a very special competition in St. Peter am Wimberg, especially for the youth groups. After all, this was also considered a qualification for the federal fire brigade youth performance competition in Traiskirchen.

Whether young or old, sensational performances could be seen across the board on the competition tracks. Among the 1,500 youth and active groups, who showed what they were made of in front of the countless spectators, you could feel the passion that is radiated for firefighting and firefighting sport. And so the vast majority of groups were able to receive their badges in bronze or silver or simply enjoy a nice competition weekend in the Mühlviertel.

Mühlviertler dominated

The Hinterschiffl fire brigade emerged as the dual national champion (report further on in the paper). In general, the Mühlviertler groups made good use of their home advantage.

Basically, however, the “Landler” in the Mühlviertel was the expected celebration of camaraderie, because at a state competition you meet comrades from all over Upper Austria. These encounters have now had a break of almost three years, and the state competition in St. Peter had to be postponed. Fire brigade president Robert Mayer summed it up with his words: “The fire brigade stands for flexibility – this was impressively confirmed to us by the St. Peter am Wimberg fire brigade.”

He congratulated all groups on the badges they passed and also wished the World Cup participants good luck, who will be heading towards Slovenia in the coming days. The Mühlviertel also has some hot irons in the fire there – not only the double state winners from Hinterschiffl.

Not only because of the perfect organization of the state competition and the perfect weather, but also because of the outstanding performance of the Mühlviertel groups, everyone in St. Peter quickly agreed: “Saint Florian must have been from the Mühlviertel.” (fell)
