Women are peacemakers, not just according to studies. It is thanks to the women of Braunau that the town was not destroyed on May 2, 1945, but handed over without a fight. Following on from this, the Bauhoftheater Braunau tells a story of peace in times of war with Aristophanes’ antique comedy “Lysistrata”: Tired of it, the women of Athens and Sparta force their husbands to make peace by withdrawing their love. Robert Ortner’s and Wolfgang Dorfner’s version and staging is rich in wordplay and punch lines, which an ensemble of professionals and amateurs playfully ignites. (cash)
Conclusion: A cheeky “frustration game” as an entertaining comedy with gender clichés against a serious background.
