“Our soldiers spotted flight paths that could have come from North Korean multiple rocket launchers,” the General Staff said.
“Our soldiers have reinforced monitoring and surveillance, and remain in a state of readiness while increasing cooperation with the United States,” they added without specifying how many trajectories they detected in total.
North Korea this year conducted several sanctions-violating missile tests, including launching an intercontinental missile, the first of this range since 2017.
Officials in Washington and Seoul also warned that the Pyongyang regime could be preparing its seventh nuclear test, which, for the United States, would lead to a “quick and forceful” condemnation.
Last month, South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup said his country would “strengthen” its defense capabilities and security cooperation with Washington and Tokyo in the face of a nuclear threat from North Korea.
