The Northern Directorate of the Judicial Police (SP) carried out six arrests and 19 searches as part of its investigation into a “forgery, legalization and sale of high-end and middle-class cars” scheme, it was announced this Wednesday.
The JV statement said the arrests and searches are part of an “operation to combat illicit vehicle trafficking and drug addiction”, with suspicions of criminal gangs, document forgery, skilled fraud and drug trafficking.
“Cars purchased on credit, as well as received with false supporting documents, were sent to a false address, and the authors evaded paying the corresponding rent. a market legalized using false documents begins to circulate with apparently valid registration documents,” explains the GP.
During the course of the investigation, the authorities seized the medium/high class car and collected various documents.
“Vila Real Judicial Police units also participated in the police operation, with the cooperation of the PSP Porto Metropolitan Command and the GNR Territorial Post in Povoa de Varzim,” PJ said in a statement.
The detainees are five men and one woman, aged between 20 and 52, one of whom is engaged in the sale of cars, and the rest have no known professional activity, all have Portuguese citizenship and all have engaged in this and other illegal activities in the past.
Six defendants will be present at the first court interrogation about the use of coercive measures.
