“We will revoke the license of public bus companies if they break the rule,” he said, adding that the measure will be introduced very soon. Last week, a video went viral on the Muslim country’s social networks of a man who is said to have groped a woman in an “angkot,” as the typical minibuses are called, driving through Jakarta. The alleged perpetrator was later arrested but denied the allegations and said he only wanted to reach for his wallet in his jacket pocket.
The vans are the most important means of public transport in many cities in the country. They are equipped with two opposite rows of seats and are often fully occupied.
