At around 11:30 p.m., the stranger left the road with the Ferrari and destroyed a telecommunications distributor before the completely destroyed sports car came to a stop on the road. A little later, the Mauthausen volunteer fire brigade was on site with three vehicles and around 15 people. “We only found the demolished Ferrari,” says commander Roland Krankl, describing the first moments after the alarm was raised.
Shortly thereafter, a search for the driver, who does not own the car, was started in the area. So far, however, this has been unsuccessful, as the Mauthausen police inspection confirmed on OÖN’s request. However, there is a witness who is said to have observed the accident driver when leaving the car. This was summoned to the police in the afternoon.
The B3 was closed to traffic for around an hour and a half before the Mauthausen fire brigade was ready to go again shortly before 2 a.m. The passenger side was particularly badly damaged, the door there was completely destroyed. Commander Krankl speaks of a stroke of luck: “Fortunately there was no passenger with us. He would not have got out on his own.”
