This was announced by the musician, also known as “King of Mallorca” because of his legendary parties on the Balearic island, last weekend in “The Big Schlager Beach Party” with Florian Silbereisen.
Drews had already announced at the end of May that he wanted to step back for the time being – he reported that he was suffering from the nervous disease polyneuropathy. In the current interview he said: “I have no pain, but the body and the condition are changing.” He also feels the side effects of old age, is tired more often than before and “just has his niggles”.
“Before I really break down, I want to say goodbye. Thank fate. With you, with you. It was a good time,” he said in an interview with the Gala (Tuesday edition).
“It’s time to put my private life first. You’ll be able to meet me at one event or another this year and see me on TV, but at the end of this year I’ll say goodbye to the stage,” said Drews in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”. He is no longer as resilient as he used to be and feels that it is incredibly good for him to be at home.
Regarding his future retirement, Drews said: “I’m sure I’ll miss the stage at some point, but I’ve really experienced everything in the more than 60 years that I’ve been doing this job.”
At 77 years old
Jürgen Drews celebrated his 77th birthday on April 2nd. Of course, daughter Joelina also congratulated. However, she did not leave it at a loving congratulations, but she listed characteristics of Jürgen Drews on her Instagram portal that make him one of her greatest role models. These include his good nature and big heart.
