Pope Francis would not return to Argentina if he resigns

The Pope, however, denied that he wants to retire soon and said that “surely not” he would live in the Vatican as an emeritus or return to Argentina.

According to Francis, “perhaps” he would establish himself in the Basilica of Saint John Lateranthe seat of the Bishop of Rome.

Names for the Francis succession

Rumors about the departure of Jorge Bergoglio, 85, from the top position of the Catholic Church have gained strength in recent months, after his health problems led him to cancel several trips and limited his public exposure.

The specialized press has spent months considering possible names to succeed him and considered as a sign in that sense the designation, made by Pope Francis himself, of the Italian cardinal matthew zuppi in the Episcopal Conference of Italy.

Pietro Parolinthe current Secretary of State and who accompanies the Pope on ecclesiastical trips with a more political agenda, is another of those named as a candidate for succession.

Although both would have the approval of Francis, the option that would have the full support of the Pope for his succession is that of the Philippine cardinal. Luis Taglewhich would represent the staging of the current pontificate to extend the borders of the Catholic Church to all corners of the world.
