One day after her EM goal in the 2-0 final against Northern Ireland in Southampton, winger Katharina Naschenweng tested positive for the corona virus. The Hoffenheim legionnaire was immediately isolated with the mildest symptoms, as the ÖFB announced on Tuesday evening.
Laura Wienroither is about to return. The 23-year-old Arsenal full-back had delivered a positive Covid 19 test on Saturday and therefore missed the second Group A game. She had only mild symptoms, which have since subsided. On Tuesday, after several negative test results, she underwent extensive examinations.
It won’t be decided until Wednesday whether she can really get back into training. The results of the final blood tests should arrive on this day, which must be correct for a final medical clearance to return to play and training operations.
So there is a chance that Wienroither, after playing in the opening game against England (0-1), can also collect minutes in the duel with Norway on Friday (9 p.m. / live ORF 1) in Brighton, which is decisive for promotion. On the other hand, Naschenweng, who played against the tournament hosts up to the 59th minute and against the Northern Irish from the 73rd minute, will not be there.
