Ten cats were cooped up in a garden shed, and the property and house were heavily littered. There were two dogs in a shack in the basement of the apartment building. The rescued four-legged friends were brought to Noah’s Ark in Graz by the animal rescue service. The owner (62) may have been overwhelmed with the attitude.

After an anonymous report, two patrols from the Markt Hartmannsdorf and St. Margarethen an der Raab police stations went to a property on Tuesday morning. There were also an official veterinarian and a representative of the Weiz district authority. The animal rescue service Aktiver Tierschutz, Noah’s Ark and the Markt Hartmannsdorf fire brigade were also present.
Hardly any oxygen, feces everywhere
When inspecting the heavily littered and stool-covered property, ten cats were discovered penned up in a garden shed. All the windows and doors were locked, so hardly any oxygen could get into the shed. According to the police, the animals were “extremely frightened” when they were rescued.

Animal cruelty complaint
An underground concrete extension adjoined the basement of the apartment building, from which the barking of a dog could be heard. The access was blocked with numerous objects, in the dark shed there was a very frightened shepherd dog. Firefighters broke open the door and found another dog inside.
The rescued animals were taken to Noah’s Ark in Graz by the animal rescue service. The 62-year-old is being charged with animal cruelty.
