The head of the Revenue Authority (AT) of Mozambique has accused Galp gas stations of committing billing and purchasing irregularities, charging them with tax evasion, in a case the oil company is unaware of and is bizarre.
“Obviously, the company’s bombs were manufactured according to a non-standard procedure,” said Domingos Mukonto, CEO of the AT tax office, quoted by the Notícias daily, which made headlines today.
On Monday, Mukonto led an inspection team at stations in Maputo, where he told reporters there was an “illegal procedure” with manual billing “that is outside the tax scheme” and fuel purchases for more than one station, “probably” diverting some from tax authorities.
