The Central Bank of Cape Verde has ordered the “administrative liquidation” of BIC Cabo Verde (BIC-CV), owned by Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, and has appointed a liquidation commission to “immediately” take over the management of the institution.
This action follows the BIC-CV administration’s decision not to proceed with the conversion of its limited license to a general license in order to be able to work with local clients, and not just non-residents, under the final offshore banking regime in Cape Verde on December 31, 2021.
According to information from the Bank of Cape Verde (BCV) this month and on Tuesday, which Lusa consulted on Tuesday, the central bank’s board of directors determined the “administrative liquidation” of the BIC-CV and appointed a three-member liquidation commission.
