The video published by the site Austin American-Statesman evidences the act, showing a disturbing 80-minute recording of what has been known for weeks about one of the worst school massacres in the history of USA: that heavily armed police, some with shotguns and armored shields, crowded into the hallway and waited for more than an hour before entering and putting an end to the May 24 massacre.
But the images, which had not been released until now, again upset the residents of Uvalde and redoubled the calls in the small southern city of Texas to demand accounts and explanations, which have been incomplete –and at times imprecise– in the seven weeks that have passed since the attack.
Hours after the video was postedResidents of Uvalde who attended a town hall meeting cried out for action and demanded that the police face the consequences, reported La Nación.
An investigative commission led by Texas lawmakers had previously announced plans to show Uvalde residents the video on Sunday, as well as share with them its findings after weeks of private testimony from more than 40 witnesses.
“This has been the most unprofessional investigation I have ever seen in my life,” said the mayor of Uvalde, Don McLaughlinin an interview with Associated Press. “These families are constantly caught off guard.”

In this photo from surveillance video provided by the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District via the Austin American-Statesman, authorities wait in a hallway as they respond to the shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.
The images from a camera installed in the school corridor show the assailant entering the building with an AR-15 type rifle and include the recording of a teacher’s call to the 911 emergency number in which He is heard yelling, “Get down! Go to your classrooms! Go to your classrooms!”
Two agents approach the classrooms minutes after the aggressor enters, and they run back amid the sound of gunshots.
As the assailant approaches the classrooms, a boy can be seen peeking out from the other end of the hallway and then running as the gunshots begin. Later, about 20 minutes before police entered the classroom, a video shows a man in a sheriff’s vest using a wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispenser..
The authorities pointed out that the 77 minutes of images set to release this weekend do not contain images of children in the classroom. Rep. Dustin Burrows, a Republican in charge of the investigation, said after the Statesman published the video that “watching the whole segment about police response, or lack of response, is also important.”
