Canadian actor Ryan Gosling (41) says he was immediately enthusiastic about his appearance as Ken in the new “Barbie” film. When he saw himself in the role for the first time, he thought: “Finally, finally it’s happening,” as he now told the industry magazine “Variety”. “It’s been going on all my life.” The first pictures from the film set, showing Gosling with tanned skin and platinum blonde hair, were published online in June.
“I felt like I saw myself,” Gosling said of his role. “I felt seen. And I think a lot of Kens will feel represented when they see that.” He does it “for the Kens of this world”.
In the feature film about the world-famous doll, Gosling plays alongside leading actress Margot Robbie (32). The all-star cast also includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu and comedian Will Ferrell. Greta Gerwig (38, “Little Women”, “Lady Bird”) is on board as a director.
