9: 1 – LASK stormed to promotion in the cup after an early shock

LASK had defended so well in the last test against Europa League winner Frankfurt (0-0), but the first few seconds of the new season called to mind the many avoidable goals conceded in the disappointing previous season: After 34 seconds, the outsider from Tyrol, the Christian Auer had completed the first attack.

It was not an effective hit, because with the kick-off the game only went in the direction of the Schwaz goal. LASK put on a power play and Keito Nakamura equalized in the 17th minute.

Three goals from access Ljubicic

Two newcomers created clear conditions with their goals before the break: defender Filip Stojkovic scored with a header (22′), Marin Ljubicic circled the ball from the penalty area to make it 3-1 in the cross corner (44′).

After the break, the 20-year-old Croatian scored two more goals: on his way to the goal alone, he didn’t give goalkeeper Lukas Wackerle a chance to defend himself (54′), two minutes later Ljubicic stole a shot when Wackerle couldn’t tame a shot from Thomas Goiginger – 1:5.

Goiginger completed half a dozen LASK goals with a directly converted free kick (65th) and also made it 7:1 (77th), Branko Jovicic scored 9:1 after submitting Thomas Sabitzer (80th), who was also substituted on Alexander Schmidt blew the final whistle (90′).

LASK fulfilled the cup obligation and warmed up in Schwaz for the first task in the Bundesliga: Next Saturday Klagenfurt comes to the Paschinger Raiffeisen Arena (5 p.m.).
