Hospital numbers that are at the same level as at the end of January, and with 10,345 new infections in just 24 hours, the highest Sunday value since April 10th – that was reported yesterday by the Ministry of Health and the Interior. In the meantime, 1235 Covid patients are being treated in hospitals across Austria, 77 of them need intensive medical care. While only 49 intensive care patients were treated in Austria last Sunday, July 10, the number increased by 57 percent within a week. There are currently 163 people in hospitals in Upper Austria, 26 more than a week ago.
The seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants has also increased again compared to last week. In the meantime, the incidence in Austria is 860.9; a week ago the value was 802.6. While Vienna still tops the list of federal states with the highest seven-day incidence with a value of 1228.1, Upper Austria is in the lower half with a value of 860.9.
Testing as a marginal phenomenon
The real conditions would not be collected by the reported infection numbers. Because in some regions testing is only a marginal phenomenon. Due to the mild symptoms or even asymptomatic, many corona patients would no longer report their infection to the authorities in order to avoid the quarantine, the ministries said yesterday.
