Dom Luis, his full name is Luis Gastao Maria José Pio Miguel Gabriel Rafael Gonzaga of Orleans and Braganca was the first of 12 children of Prince Pedro Henrique of Orleans and Braganca and Princess Maria Elisabeth of Bavaria of Orleans and Braganca and was registered at the Consulate General of Brazil in Paris. as heir to his father’s dynastic rights to the Brazilian throne.
In 1945, after the end of the Second World War, the descendants of the royal family returned to Brazil, from where they were evicted in 1889, after the proclamation of the republic on November 15 of that year. The Luis family traveled through Rio de Janeiro and Petropolis before settling in Paraná in southern Brazil in 1951.
Returning to Europe to study and graduate in political and social sciences at the University of Paris and chemistry and physics at the University of Munich in Germany, Dom Luis settled in the city of São Paulo when he returned to Brazil in 1967. After the death of his father in 1981, the House of Luis de Orléans y Braganza took over the leadership of the Imperial House of Brazil.
Deeply religious, Don Luis, in addition to his dynastic obligations and relations with royal families around the world, devoted a significant part of his life to the resolute defense of the principles of Christian civilization.
