Man shoots three people at mall Greenwood Park in the suburbs of the US capital of Indiana (USA), injuring two more, after which he was killed by a civilian armed with a pistol.
Jim Eyson, police chief of Greenwood, a city of about 60,000 people south of Indianapolis, said the suspect entered the mall around 6 p.m. with a shotgun and several rounds of ammunition and started shooting at people who were in the food service area. Two people were injured, including a 12-year-old girl who was shot in the back.
Police were alerted to the shooting around 6:05 p.m. Sunday (11 p.m. in Lisbon), Eason said at a press conference.
“The real hero of the day is the citizen who had a legal firearm and was able to stop the shooter as soon as he started shooting,” Eason told reporters. Police have not released the names of the victims, the shooter or the civilian who killed him.
