At least five people were killed and 22 others were injured in a traffic accident that occurred on Estrada Nacional 1 (EN1), Mozambique’s main highway, an official source said.
The accident, which took place in the Manisa area, involved a passenger van and a private car that collided head-on after an irregular overtaking by a car with passengers, said Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Maputo provincial traffic police. Chaban, quoted today by Rádio Moçambique.
“As a result, we had five deaths, 12 serious injuries and another 10 minor injuries,” Rodriguez Chabana explained, adding that there were strong indications that the overtaking driver was drunk.
