After Jedermann Lars Eidinger, on Monday evening after the premiere of this year’s edition, Verena Altenberger also announced her departure from Domplatz, reported ORF Salzburg. Acting boss Bettina Hering confirmed the two cancellations.
Eidinger and Altenberger both made their debuts in the summer of 2021 at the game of the dying rich man that has been played in Salzburg for over 100 years and will say goodbye after just two seasons. “Because Lars is leaving, I thought about going too. And for me there is a great love for the theater between paramour and everyone – and I found it. And that’s why I don’t want to look any further,” said Altenberger at the premiere celebration Monday.
Eidinger also made his farewell public at the premiere party, said Hering and showed understanding for his decision: “I know his order situation and his offers in the film sector.” Nevertheless, she would have “of course found it great if he had made it longer”, especially since in the second year the production with a few sharpenings had become “a magnificent work”, in which the intimacy between everyone and paramour had grown. That’s why she also respects Altenberger’s decision to let another couple continue to write the performance history with the departure of the protagonist. The considerations as to who this would be were already under way. The new cast will be decided in the fall. Whether Michael Sturminger will again be responsible for the production in 2023 will only be announced at this point.
