Tourism in Linz is getting through the crisis well

The Corona crisis followed the tourist record year 2019 with 934,944 overnight stays and with it a slump in the statistics. After two mild years, a clear upward trend can now be seen again. In the first half of 2022, 356,105 overnight stays were counted in Linz – almost as many as before the pandemic. In June alone, 84,774 overnight stays were counted, in the reference month of 2018 there were fewer at 82,364.

Most visitors come from Germany, followed by Germany. “The positive development is very gratifying. Not only are events booming at the moment, but business tourism is slowly returning. With the campaign `Linz is Linz` we made many people curious who are now visiting us. The courage paid off,” says Tourism Director Georg Steiner.

For him and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Manfred Grubauer, the signs are pointing to farewell next spring. The call for applications to succeed Steiner as Director of Tourism has already been finalized, and the application deadline is at the end of August. The new chairman of the supervisory board is elected from among the members of the supervisory board. In addition to Grubauer, Klaus Pippig and Johann Kaiser also resign.
